Curling will probably always make me think of this scene in "Help." It's the one where the Beatles are supposedly curling (is that the right phrase?) and George inadvertently sends a booby-trapped curling stone their way. After he realizes it he says,
"It's a fiend-ish thingy!"
Followed by the Beatles running off while the stone explodes. Apparently, while filming a take for this scene a few of the Beatles ran about a mile. I think it had to do with something they smoked or something...

And that is why I cannot watch curling without giggling.

*I harbor no ill-will towards the Beatles, none at all.

Back in the swing of things

A few weeks ago I blogged about the pleats on this dress:

Now, it is a dress. There are three others, just like this, in differing colors. I'm not quite done with them but things seem to come together in the costume shop before the show goes up. By the time the last dress is done, I will have put...nine? versions of this dress together out of everything from muslin to raw silk to brocade.

Is it spring break yet?

ACTF and the aftermath

I got back from ACTF this afternoon. It was held at at Dixie State College in St. George.

The weather was very nice.

Unfortunately, blogger isn't quite as nice. I can't seem to move my pictures around so this entry is going to be very out of order. I am sorry.

I spent Thursday afternoon and evening in Vegas with Hilary, Avery and Josh. It was wonderful to spend even just a little while with my sister.
I also FINALLY got a picture with Catherine Zublin, the reason why I am a costume designer. I wanted to get a picture at graduation but I was dumb and decided to carry my iPod and not my cell phone. It was really great to see my old friends from Weber State. (They did a FANTASTIC job with "Sleepy Hollow!")

Honorable Mention winner from Utah Valley University, it's basically 3rd place.
My ACTF doppleganger, apparently. I was asked if I "was Blanche" when I was walking into a theatre. I had no idea what the person meant and my friends pointed me in the right direction.
Me and my boards, I won the regional award also known as 2nd place.

On our way home we made a detour to the Lotus Krishna temple in Spanish Fork. It was pretty cool!

What a week!

It was a very busy week.

Our good friend Leslie paid us a visit:

A "mysterious" box arrived.....addressed to me.
My friend Emily snapped this "lovely" picture. She and Clarissa picked me up from the costume shop so I could open the box.
It was full of beautiful tulips. (They just needed to wake up and drink some water...)

It was a great week!

I really enjoy making costumes.

Now, back to getting stuff ready for ACTF and doing my homework.
(It's been awfully nice to have other things to do as well other than just school work.)
