My little brother is growing up

My brother went to the Homecoming Dance this evening. Despite his inital reluctance, Alex came back with his date, Mallory, for pictures. Here they are!

Alex was adament that only two pictures were to be taken. Of course, my mom took more than that.

I'm not Oprah but...

I'd like to dedicate this blog to some of my favorite things. Unfortunately, unlike Oprah I can't hand out my favorite things to anyone who reads my blog.

First up is my absolute favorite blush EVER. It's a gel blush that I am certain will last me through grad school. I love this stuff because it gives my ghostly face a healthy blush, it lasts all day, and it smells nice too. I was hesistant at first because I'm sort of a lummox and sometimes I struggle with tricky make up. This is easy to apply even for a klutz like me (lummox is my new favorite word, it's another word for klutz.)

This is Artec's Blow Serum, which is an awkward name for a fruit scented hair product. I don't really need something that is heavy, just something to keep my hair from going staticky. I like this stuff because it is SO much easier to blow dry my hair after I apply it. The brush just glides through my hair.

Above is a picture of the source of much thievery on the part of my youngest sister. I bought this brush while on my mission and I LOVE it. It's a Marilyn Brush, Tuxedo Pro Round 3". It's just fabulous. Not fabulous is when my sweet sister tries to sneak into my room early in the morning to use it on her swoopy bangs. I tell her that she needs to get her own but she just says something like, "a buh buh buh buh" while shaking her hand.

On our next stop is my current reading material. I first attempted "Jane Eyre" when I was in junior high. I didn't get very far. I tried again as a senior in high school and once again, didn't get very far. My most recent attempt was this week and I am happy to say that it has been a success. I love this book.

Here is a picture of the Vietamese Chicken Salad Rolls from Pei Wei. They come with a peanut sauce and a sweet chile sauce. I'm not usually one for spicy but I adore the chile sauce, the peanut one, not so much.

I'm going through a pretty big George Harrison phase. He's my favorite Beatle and I like his solo stuff the most. He's great and very underrated.

Last of all (and best of all) is my family. I love them!

Sorry again about the lack of free stuff.

The Museum!

I went to the Utah Museum of Fine Arts with my parents today and it was wonderful! I love art...and the food at the Lion House.
That's all.

You look like...

Apparently I look like my brother, my Mom, my aunt, my sister, Tina Majorino, Julie Christie, and even Angelina Jolie. The first comment was made my a friend of my younger sister. She hadn't met me until this week and she made the comparison when she thought I was out of earshot.

I've been told that I look like my mom for as long as I can remember.

The comparisons to my aunt Emily started around the time she got married and I attended her bridal shower. A girl in my ballet class (this was a LONG time ago) thought she was my older sister when she picked me up from class once.

Just about everyone who knows Hilary and me has called me "Hilary." I wish I was as beautful as Hil!

The Tina Majorino comparisons were mostly in elementary school. Usually people would say something like, "You look like that girl from Waterworld" or "You look like that girl from Andre." I don't really get it much any more.

My friend Mel told me I looked like Julie Christie in college.

The make up artist at Lancome told me I looked like Angelina Jolie in my Weber student ID picture. I thought it was hilarious.

Just for kicks...the results from the internet.

A word (or several) about my playlist

After a very frustrating 20 minutes I finally figured out how to add my playlist to my blog. I decided to set it on random because I don't want to put the songs in a cohesive order and because it's sort of long. Anyhoo. A good deal of the songs on here are from the eighties. I watched a show this summer called "Ashes to Ashes" and almost all of the eighties songs on here are from the show. It's freakin' awesome. If a whole flock of seventies songs appears on the playlist it's probably from "Life On Mars." It's another show that is really fantastic. Other than that, I just put songs on the list that I enjoyed.
Enjoy!
