Patsy Cline Photo Bonanza

I took all of the following pictures with my cell phone camera because it is somehow superior to my regular camera. I know, it makes no sense.

First up are a couple of sketches from my book and close ups of the finished costumes in the shop. I got into the habit of sketching figures without faces when I started grad school and year and a half ago. Apparently I can get too wrapped up with the faces and forget the details of the costumes. It's true...
This is from the cutter draper's notebook. We made copies of our sketches so she could know what she was getting herself into. Louella was a trooper and a joy to have in the shop. I wish I would have drawn this costume as a formal rendering because it ended up being so much fun.
Fun, huh?
Here is the red cowgirl outfit, complete with a "P" on the collar for "Patsy" of course!

I think I first saw this dress during fall semester when I was pulling costumes for "The Glass Menagerie." I like it so much that I took a picture of the dress right there, in stock.
A cut, a dye job and a few other alterations later, it looked like this:
I was really, REALLY happy when I found out that I would be able to alter the dress, especially after our first fitting with Erica. It basically looked like it was made for her.

The next pictures are from last night's photo call. Once again, I discovered that I was able to get "better" pictures with my camera phone. It's crazy. Credits are as follows:

Patsy Cline: Erica Hansen
Louise Seeger: Colleen Baum

Set Design: Shawn Fisher
Lighting Design: Randy Muggleston
Costume Design: Me!
"Honky Tonk Merry Go Round"
"Back In Baby's Arms"
"Walkin' After Midnight"
"I Fall To Pieces"
Louise meeting Patsy at the Esquire Ballroom.
"You Belong To Me"
"Sweet Dreams/She's Got You"
"Three Cigarettes in an Ashtray"
"Crazy"
"Seven Lonely Days"
Louise introducing Patsy to her favorite radio DJ.
"Shake, Rattle and Roll"
"True Love"

I LOVED working on this show and I HIGHLY recommend it! Go see "Always...Patsy Cline" at the Old Lyric Theatre. Our last show is July 28th so get your tickets now!

DONE!

"Always...Patsy Cline" is up and running.

and

I finished altering my wedding dress.

Is it exactly right? "Right" meaning, did I do it the way they did? No, but you can't tell from the outside and it still looks tidy from the inside. Total time it took to alter the shoulders and the hem: five and a half hours. I think. It didn't take very long at all!

The only problem that I can see now is I will have free time. Actual, real, tangible free time.

I'm sure I'll find something to do.

Pictures and Patsy

This is one of the fantastic pictures Becky took during our engagement session last month. She is so ridiculously talented and I feel so fortunate that she is our photographer AND a friend.

We're in the process right now of deciding which shots we want to use. I'm really excited!

Also in the process of things, stuff for Always...Patsy Cline. I'm working on a wig. I'll try and upload some pictures from that adventure. I just found a link to a video of Erica Hansen as Patsy Cline from the Grand Theatre's production last year. You can watch her here. She's really great.

Ugh, I'm tired.

But, probably not nearly as tired as my sister-in-law to be, Candice who just had a baby. Literally.
This afternoon.
All I can say is CONGRATULATIONS!!!

It seems like an update is in order. In the while since I last wrote the following things happened:

-I have been to two, excellent, bridal showers. I was late to both. I was NOT happy about that.

-I moved into the apartment. THE apartment. My parents came up with Hilary and Alex and James, of course. I really like it. It's cozy and I'm getting used to living alone. I guess I'll have to get over that in August or else things could get really awkward.

-Things are moving along for Always...Patsy Cline. We had a fitting on Saturday and things are going well. There are still somethings we need to construct but we have time.

There you go, an update, just so you know I'm still alive. (whoever might be reading this...)

"Summer Break"

How is it Friday already? This week has gone by waaaaay too fast, unfortunately. We were able to get a lot of wedding stuff done this week including:
  1. Invitations have been selected even though we won't send them to the printer until the end of June. James and I are both going to be busy this summer.
  2. We planned our wedding cake. Okay, Melanie and I planned it while James watched Lost but at least we were all in the same room.
  3. My lovely and talented friend, Becky, shot our engagement pictures on Tuesday. You can check out her fantastic work here. We went to This Is The Place (something) Park on Tuesday evening and we were lucky to miss out on the rain. It drizzled a little at first but then it stopped until we got to our cars after we were done. After that it rained A LOT! I was just glad that it held off until after we were done. Even though it didn't rain it was still cold. Not the weather to wear this:
If it looks familiar it sort of is. I made a half scale version with lantern sleeves and a flared skirt and it was so cute I had to make one for myself! That and I had a ridiculous amount of that fabric left over from a project a few years ago. I was going to decorate my room in this fabric. I got as far as making a bed cover, a bulletin board and I also covered a chair. I got a little excited when I bought the fabric.

4. The acquisition of addresses continues...if you know that I don't have your address send me an e-mail at Lindsaydesigner@hotmail.com. I don't want to miss anyone!

The rest of the week has been spent dealing with car stuff. I registered my car but before I could do that I had to get a new windshield (stupid Sardine Canyon.) On the plus side, the world does look a lot nicer through a new windshield. Have I mentioned how grateful I am for my tax return? It was pretty sweet. It really came in handy with these extra expenses.

What else? What else? Final grades have been posted and.....

Another 4.0.

Three for three, straight A's. Half way done. Three more semesters to go...

Work starts on Monday, it is a good and bad thing. Good for friends, bad because I'll be 100-something miles away from James.

End of the year festivities!

James braved the end of the year theatre department banquet. It's an occasion to get fancied up and eat food and do end of the year type stuff. The following are some pictures that my friend, Caroline, took with James' iPhone (I forgot my camera in the rush to get ready.)
This one is blurry but I love it anyway!
My current phone wall paper.
I love that we coordinated our outfits.

James graduated today with his bachelors.
CONGRATULATIONS!

If all goes well, in two years we will be DONE with grad school!

Fingers crossed.
