Mishaps

I've been working in altering a wedding dress for a friend of a friend. While I was ironing some of the seams I fist bumped the iron.

And then I dropped it. Apparently our kitchen rug is made of plastic and now it has an iron shaped melted spot.

On the plus side, the dress is looking great and the melted spot is mostly hidden. Luckily.

Baby Names! (aka, a rant)

I was looking at the entries for the Gap's child/baby model search today because a few of my facebook friends had nominated either their own kids or relatives/friends.  I was anticipating some crazy names and I was NOT disappointed.
Here is a sampling:

Gaberian
Unique
Jessiyka
Ozzie
Falyne
Tenzin
Callix
Khye
Doc
Lakelynn
Alique
Regon
Jissel
Zade
Aeris
Eilyanah
Krystabelle
Avin
Zefrah
Athier
Klayton (it reminds me too much of Klan and KKK with that spelling)
Amaryn
Trason
Locklan
Autam
Zaden
Briasia
Samyah
LeeAnya
Maximilliano (and I thought Wilhelmina was a mouthful)
Kherington
Kimber (Hilary's favorite name!)
Anniyia
Zailey
Supreme
Jyhe
Adwin
Conar (just the spelling, it reminds me of Conair, my hairdryer)
Broden

And that was only 10% of the entries.  I wonder if there would have been some worse names the longer I scrolled through.  I just shake my head and feel sorry for the teachers who will have to figure out how pronounce some of these names.  I also feel bad for the kids who are stuck with these names.
I'm still trying to figure out how to pronounce Jyhe...

Happy Easter!

I got crafty and made peanut butter eggs for James as an Easter treat. I made the basket out of a container that used to house cherry tomatoes. Add a little felt and...Easter basket.

It's a....

two posts in one day!

Just kidding, it's a...
GIRL!!!

I figured I'd cover my bases and post similar things on both blogs.
We're so excited to meet our little girl this summer!

How Its Made

I'm a sucker for learning how things are made.  Especially everyday items made from recognizable materials.  In that vein I found a video this morning via Flavorwire chronicling the making of a book.

This will join the ranks with this video:

Fun and games

In real life I'm not THAT fond of bowling but I do like Wii bowling.  It's not as difficult and my funny elbows don't mess up the trajectory of the ball.  I usually play by myself but James and I decided to play together one night last week.  I remembered why I don't usually play against him:
That is five strikes in a ROW.  He finished up the game with another strike and a spare.  It was pretty out of control.

I tried to get a picture of him bowling but it didn't work.  He's really cute when he bowls in real life too.

Yesterday I journeyed to Wal-Mart and bought an item I was surprised I haven't owned.  A hot glue gun.  I am just as a surprised as you are, Mom.  I figured it would be a good time to get some exercise in so I walked all around the store to find it.  I eventually found it near the party supplies and not in the area labeled "craft and sewing" near the fabric.  I used it to make this:
We dried oranges from our Bountiful Basket order from last month.  We had so many uneaten oranges that were starting to go soft.  I had wanted to make something with dried oranges after seeing pictures here.  It doesn't really go with the curtains in the kitchen but they came with the kitchen so I'm not going to change them.  I love how the sun shines through the slices and it smells pretty good too!

Tomorrow is our anatomy ultrasound and I am really excited!  I'm surprised how quickly the past four weeks have gone by, I was really disappointed we would have to wait until 21 weeks to learn more about our baby.  The wait is almost over!
