Dear Internet...

I really liked Conan O'Brien's show. I was really excited when he moved to the Tonight Show because that meant I wouldn't have to stay up as late to watch his show.

Last night was his last episode with the Tonight Show, I really liked what he said near the end of the show:

"All I ask is one thing, and I ask particularly of young people that watch the show. Please do not be cynical. I hate cynicism, for the record, it is my least favorite quality. It doesn't lead anywhere. Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen. I'm telling you amazing things will happen."

I guess that's one less reason to stay up past the news.

It snowed a lot this week. Two of the three days it snowed I felt like "Keller of the Antarctic" but the other day it wasn't nearly as bad. The sidewalks were just really slippery the whole week but by some miracle, I never fell. (By the way, the picture does not do it justice. It's just very hard to take a picture of yourself when you're already late for class.)

We get a lot of wacky donations in the costume shop. Really wacky. This past week we received 18 wedding dresses. Yep, wedding dresses. As you can see from the pictures, they aren't exactly at the height of style. Molly, Caroline and Jenny had a fun time dressing up. They are sort of out of control and I mean that in the fondest, most loving sense possible. Seriously.
In other news, I received approval for the Graduate Student Senate travel funding! The award will cover $300 of my expenses for the regional ACTF. This is a huge relief because I am currently attempting to graduate without any student loans and I really don't have an extra $300 for a week long trip to St. George. I am going to present my designs for The Glass Menagerie, a feat that would have killed me if I had tried it during my younger days. I'm going to spend today putting my 'boards' together. This is a picture of my boards from two years ago:
I think I'm going to split the 4'X4' space into four pieces this year instead of six pieces. But then again, I need to find out the size of the foam core I am going to use. I also need to print out pictures and labels and copy sketches....
I'm really excited about ACTF! And nervous!

The Glass Menagerie

Behold!
Professional photos from The Glass Menagerie!

My first show as a graduate student and I am very happy with the results. Now I get to write a chapter for my plan B (sort of a thesis but with pictures) AND get my stuff together for ACTF next month. I'm glad it's a long weekend...

Yuck

Logan has the WORST air quality in the country.
Gross.

Other than that, grad school year two is going well. I plan on taking pictures and rhapsodizing on why I love Logan.

It's a photo bowie-nanza!

While I was packing to go back to Logan, I found a CD of pictures from the Area Two concert. In August of 2002 my Dad drove me and Jordan to DENVER so we could go to the concert. It was AMAZING!!!! The concert included Ash, The Blue Man Group, Busta Rhymes and Moby in addition to David Bowie. I had planned on taking pictures of each act but it didn't pan out. My Busta Rhymes pictures wound up as pictures of the person in front of me (the crowd got a little rowdy) and I decided a photo of Bowie singing "Ziggy Stardust" was better than a photo of Moby (sorry!)
Tim Wheeler of Ash and the dude with the long nasty hair that was in most of my pictures.
(There were only two people in front of me the whole concert! It was practically the front row!)

Charlotte Hatherley of Ash

The Blue Man Group

The crowd goes wild for Bowie...

Sure this picture was cropped a little but it shows how close I was!

Now Ziggy played.......guitaaaaaaar!

It was pretty much amazing. I don't think I will ever regret this or the amount of money I spent on the tickets. It was so worth it.

They can do it, why can't I?

Julian Schnabel and Hugh Hefner have something in common.
No, it's not their love of the younger ladies, they both wear pajamas 24/7.
There is something about that idea that is very appealing.

I love pajamas.

(Julian Schnabel is a painter/director.)

2010...suddenly the year sounds so futuristic!

HELLO 2010!
Hil, Josh and Avery left today, ready to go back home. Before they left we said goodbyes.
Avery has her own special way of giving kisses.
Seriously, they are WET.
(Side note, when did my hair get so long?)
Alley-Cat got home just in time to say goodbye.
Josh, Ave and Hil
Loading up the car...

Goodbye!!!! We miss you already!
Although, I guess if I had the choice, I might leave this weather too.
(I think there is even more snow in Logan!)
